A.Links coming from other sites
B.Links from your own site
With the help of this update,in addition to the links accessed by you, back-links will be provided which help you in knowing as to which links are from your site and which are from other sites.
Through the aid of Webmaster tools, various kinds of sites can be governed effectively.
Earlier, links which used to start with accurately identical URL of ones site were considered as internal links.Previously if the address of site was www.abc/xyz/region links from www.abc/xyz/region/profile.html used to be considered as internal links but links from www.abc.com/region or were treated as external links.Even if one would enter www.abc.com, links from abc.com would be treated as external because they do not begin with the exact URL of your site or in other words we can say that they dont enclose “www”.
Three kinds of sites can be handled with this application:
A plain domain name (abc.com)
A subdomain (www.abc.com or places.climate.com or)
A domain with subfolder path (www.abc.com/xyz or www.abc.com/xyz/region)
A normal online user, who is not much skilled, assumes climate.com and www.abc.com as the same site.Implementation of this application is done keeping in mind such kind of users.
With the introduction of this application, links from both www an non www versions of the domain will be treated as internal links. If your site is such that it is located on a subdomain such as (maps.google.com) or in a subfolder (www.google.com/support/webmasters/) but the root directory is not owned by you, then you’ll be able to visualise the links from the URLs starting with that subdomain or subfolder in your internal links whereas others will act as external links for you.
If root domain is owned by your site then the number of external links of your site will get decremented by this application.
